Programme Description
Time Commitment: 1 Day Per WeekDuration: 6 months per certification
Graduates are able to demonstrate the competencies and knowledge required to be fully operational in different functions of the Rooms Division department, following the standards of a first-class hotel operation.
Successful graduates have the capacity to successfully work independently in the front-office or housekeeping operations and are well-equipped to enter the industry and reach a supervisory position in a short period of time.
Programme Aims
Graduates of the Hotel Professional Diploma will be proficient in the following activities and will be distinguished by the following behaviors:
- As hosts, they welcome guests according to an establishment's guidelines, and they ensure that a hospitable customer experience is delivered.
- They are aware of the importance of cleanliness, maintenance and laundry work as well as organizational tasks, including logistics for all back-of the-house activities.
- They can effectively use a property management system. They can make reservations, perform check-ins and check-outs, establish bills and collect revenue.
- They have mastered the principles of hygiene and occupational safety. They ensure that the value of premises, installations and appliances are preserved, and that energy and equipment are used economically.
- They can prepare the food & beverage service, both in the daily service and for events, and can advise customers on appropriate beverages.


Programme Delivery
A blend of knowledge and skills trainings through:
- Digital learning which trainees need to complete before attending the physical class trainings
- Active learning activities in class facilitated by licensed trainers who are certified by EHL Advisory Services
Programme Structure
There are 3 learning phases each comprising of a 6 month certification learning structure.Each certificate level builds skills on top of the previous and counts towards obtaining the Professional Diploma (completion of the three certificate levels is possible from 12-18 months).
Accelerated Learning: The Diploma can be achieved in a reduced timeframe if the student passes a Recognition of Experiential Learning check and has prior work experience.
Foundation Certificate
6 monthsFocused on Rooms and Service, learners will acquire the fundamental hospitality-based skills necessary for working in a hotel. A blend of online learning modules and guided practical workshops will help ensure the learner is work-ready upon completion of the certificate.
Intermediate Certificate
6 monthsTrainees will learn the skills needed to be successful at the front-desk to welcome guests. A blend of guided practical workshops and on-the-job application in a hospitality setting will allow the learners to put into practice the knowledge, competencies and skills they have acquired.
Advanced Certificate
6 monthsAfter a full year of experience, the advanced certificate delivers the competencies needed for the learner to take on a supervisory role within a hotel.
Diploma Certification
Trainees who wish to obtain a Hotel Administration Professional Diploma will need to complete all 3 certificates or satisfy the requirements of the Recognition of Experiential Learning subject to approval in order to fast-track.
